Brewing the tea stronger than normal is important because ice and milk dilute it when the drink is assembled.
Ingredients
- 6 tbsp Thai tea mix or strong black tea
- 900 ml boiling water
- 70 g caster sugar
- 120 ml sweetened condensed milk
- 120 ml evaporated milk
- 4 cups ice cubes
Step-by-step method
- Place the tea mix in a heatproof jug and pour over the boiling water.
- Steep for 5–7 minutes, depending on the strength of the tea, then strain through a fine sieve or cloth.
- While the tea is still hot, stir in the sugar until fully dissolved.
- Cool the tea to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold if you have time.
- Fill four tall glasses generously with ice and divide the tea between them.
- Stir the condensed milk into each glass, then pour the evaporated milk slowly over the top for a layered appearance.
- Serve immediately and stir before drinking so the sweetness is evenly distributed.
